Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost to hire a skip/hook bin?
The cost of hiring a skip/hook bin depends on the size bin you are after, your location, and the type of waste going inside the bin.
Here at Retrac Skips, we have a range of skip bin sizes ranging from a size 2, 3, 4, 7 & 8.5 and a range of hook bin sizes ranging from a size 11, 15, 20 & 30. We have two rates that we work with - one for general mixed waste and one for clean waste (bins containing 100% clean bricks, concrete, dirt or green waste – it has to be one of these items only to qualify for the clean waste rate).
The price also depends on the location that the bin is being delivered to. Our cheapest rate is our ‘Zone L’ rate which is our local Gold Coast area. We also deliver bins further from this area for an additional cost under our ‘Zone K’ and ‘Zone T’ rates.
Check out our “Price List” tab for a detailed list of our rates and zones.
What rubbish can I put inside a skip/hook bin?
Here at Retrac Skips, we accept all residential and commercial waste, aside from our listed “restricted items” (asbestos, bagged concrete powder, tyres, wet paint, oils, gas bottles, flammables, chemicals of any kind and food waste).
We also have weight restrictions on our size 11, 15, 20 & 30 hook bins. Our size 11 hook bins have a 12 tonne limit and out size 15, 20 & 30 hook bins have a 6 tonne limit.
How long can I keep a skip/hook bin onsite for?
The cost of our bins include up to 10 days hire. If you would like to extend your hire for an additional 7 days give us a call on 55289011. This may incur a $50 per 7-day extra hire fee on our discretion.
Can I bring rubbish direct to your transfer station if I have a ute, truck or trailer?

What happens with my waste from my skip/hook bin once collected?
Here at Retrac, we are committed to stopping as much waste as we can from going to landfill and recycle majority of the rubbish we recover at our transfer station.
After our driver picks up your skip/hook bin it is brought back to our transfer station whereby it is sorted and separated into recyclable materials (e.g. concrete, soil, metals, rubble, gyprock, green waste etc.) Whatever materials can be recycled are taken to specialist recycling facilities. Any materials that cannot be recycled are sent to landfill.
For the last few years, the team at Retrac Skips have consistently stopped over 70% of recovered waste from going to landfill each year through our recycling methods.
